Domaine de Bagatelle

The Mansart Foundation launched an ambitious restoration project of the Bagatelle estate from 2021 to 2022 by restoring facades (masonry, cut stone), roofs and joinery of the castle followed by those of the Trianon from 2023 to 2024.

The Foundation is today undertaking the major restoration of the interior decoration and the further development of the castle and the Trianon with a view to their reopening to the public. Prior to the restoration, the Foundation carried out iconographic and historical research in order to restore the decorations of the ground and first floor in the best possible way.

A NEW HOME FOR MASTERPIECES OF 18th-CENTURY FRENCH ART

The Foundation aims to redecorate Bagatelle by exhibiting unique masterpieces of French decorative art and original paintings from the 18th century. Furniture and gilded bronzes will be loaned by the French Mobilier National and several other pieces by private collectors. Donations will also make it possible to acquire additional exceptional pieces on the art market.

ORGANIZATION OF EXHIBITIONS AND CULTURAL EVENTS

The castle will be open to the public for regular visits. A space will allow temporary exhibitions to be organized, in partnership with other institutions. A program of concerts and cultural events will encourage the public to regularly visit the castle, which will once again be an essential destination for Ile-de-France residents as well as all other French and international visitors.

THE SOCIAL MISSION

The Foundation places great emphasis on its social mission, which consists of giving audiences less familiar with culture the essential keys to appreciating the history of its historic sites. The Foundation also offers them the opportunity to develop their curiosity and creativity.

THE EDUCATIONAL MISSION

The Mansart Foundation organises school and heritage camps, supervised by professionals. It will offer a range of visits, workshops and tools adapted to school groups. The Foundation also offers site visits to students from the Chaillot school, art history students as well as art school students.
