The Mansart Foundation has the status of a "fondation abritante", and as such can create and shelter third party foundations.
A sheltered foundation is called a fondation abritée, or a foundation under aegis. It is housed within a fondation abritante, the parent foundation with the legal capacity to host it and control its governance.
The sheltered foundation can be created by one or more legal entities or by private individuals.
Today, the Mansart Foundation houses two foundations under aegis, supporting projects in their respective areas of expertise.
Other sheltered foundations are in the process of being created. Created on the initiative of individuals, associations or companies, there are different types of sheltered foundation.
