Unpublished archives kept at the Mobilier national have revealed the provision of the Villa Windsor for Mohammed V.
On the occasion of his official visit to France in the autumn of 1950, the Sultan of Morocco, considered by many to be the «father of the modern Moroccan nation», actually resided at 4, route du Champ d'Entraînement, in Paris. This private mansion that General de Gaulle occupied in the aftermath of the Second World War, from 1944 to 1946, and which later became the emblematic Villa Windsor.
This detail, recently highlighted by the Mansart Foundation thanks to the archives of the Mobilier national — studied in the context of the reconstitution of the office of General de Gaulle — provides us with new elements on the history of the site and its important furniture.
